Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at emily@herhealthlab.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I do not currently accept insurance for visits and services. Insurance sometimes creates barriers to care when we are bound by what is required. Being a fee for service provider allows me to provide the most comprehensive care. I do, however, utilize insurance for processing most  labs and some medications. HSA/FSA is accepted.

Most Doctors, PAs and Nurse Practitioner get very limited training in perimenopause and menopause and how to manage hormones. Unless your primary doctor or GYN has decided to pursue further education in hormones and functional medicine you are going to get the "shoulder shrug" and the "ehh it's just part of life". While my visits are out of pocket and not covered by insurance, you might wonder why you are going to pay a little more to see me. I strive to stay competitive with pricing to be a cost effective option while providing you with more individualized care that is not subject to the same time constraints that your typical provider is. You have more direct access to me and my education that is specific to hormones, functional wellness and obesity management.

Labwork is a valuable tool for evaluating what is going on in the body. Your hormonal levels will be evaluated in your bloodwork but that won't be the only deciding factor about whether hormone replacement therapy is a good treatment plan. Symptoms and lifestyle as well as a medical history all go into shared decision making about the best course of action.

For patients who are focusing on weight loss and metabolic health you will be enrolled in Her Weight Membership. This includes a monthly visit with me and two B12 skinny shots per month as well as 15% off all Thorne products.

Hormone pelleting is a natural, bioidentical approach to hormone optimization that supports your body’s unique rhythm and long-term wellness. Using tiny pellets placed just beneath the skin, this method delivers a steady, consistent release of hormones—most often testosterone or estrogen—over the course of several months. Unlike creams or pills, hormone pelleting helps avoid daily fluctuations and works in harmony with your body’s needs. It’s an ideal option for those seeking sustainable relief from symptoms like low energy, mood changes, brain fog, and hormonal weight gain—while addressing the root cause of imbalance.

Nope! These hormones are/were already in your body. Restoring their levels will only provide you with great benefits.
